Job Description:
Sales Manager - Waste Containers

One of the largest manufacurers of waste containers and associated capital equipment such as Wheelie-Bin lifters is looking for a new Sales Account Manager to cover all their sales operations in the South East of England.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Essential - experience in at least one field sales role including a mix of both account management and business development (Role will be about 50:50). We are aiming to employ an excellent salesperson who is driven to develop and grow sales in their area.
Knowledge of environmental services industry preferred but not essential
Experience of selling into local authorities essential, but can be in similar industry (understanding of public sector tendering useful including developing multi-level contacts)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate preferred but important is the capability/intellect of the candidate which can be proven through other qualifications / experience
IT skills are essential

LOCATION

To be based in the sales area (Greater London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey) or on the border of the sales area. Preferred location is close to the M25 providing easy access to whole sales area.

JOB PURPOSE

Our field sales team is divided into 5 areas for England and Wales. A position has become available in the south east area following a recent re-assignment from external to internal sales. The sales manager currently covering the south east is moving to cover the central region as it is geographically suited to their location. Otto's increasing preference is to employ Area Sales Managers also based in their patch to enable effective and efficient coverage of the area

Main purposes of role:
Manage relationships with existing customers. (current revenue within South East area is £0.9m)
Develop new relationships with local authority and private sector customers leading to new business development
Identify opportunities for tenders within the sales area (future roll outs of wheeled containers) and be involved in pre- and post-tender communication with the customer
Promote core and development product range (wheeled bins, litter bins, underground waste systems, hazardous waste containers, RFID systems etc)
Provide local support for major account contracts through contact with depots and local purchasers (Sita, Veolia, Shanks etc)

Key parameters:
The candidate will be based at home but expected to operate in their sales area 4 days a week.
Minimum 4 sales calls should be planned for each working day, with up to 6 calls being completed.
Sales opportunities as a ratio to calls will be monitored, as well as sales resulting from opportunities identified
The candidate will be expected to attend one monthly sales meeting at head office (Coalville, Leicestershire) and other meetings and training as and when required.
The commission structure for 2010 is in the process of being finalized but will include:
Reward for sales generated by the Area Sales Manager directly
Higher rewards for non-wheeled bin sales (products attracting higher margins)
Shared rewards with team for success on project roll-outs and major accounts

Key responsibilities:
Coordinating all sales activities in designated area.
Acting as main interface for customers, including after-sales care (including to point of payment).
Promoting and selling the full product range as currently exists and future developments (training will be provided).
